Team SunGod's Top UK Summer Spots

Stories

Breezy cycling routes, gorgeous hikes, relaxing beaches, and much more in our list of the SunGod team's recommendations for UK summer spots.

You don't always need to go further afield to enjoy the summer, there are many beautiful sites right on your back door

Save these for your next day-trip or staycation.

"A great beach surrounded by white chalk cliffs and views of the Seven Sisters. It's insanely beautiful when the sun is shining (albeit can get very busy in the summer holidays!)", Hannah, Events Coordinator.

"One of South Devon's 'tropical' beaches with days where the water could be mistaken for the Mediterranean. Only accessible by foot, it's never crowded and the coastal path either side are some of the best trail running in the UK", David, Marketing Director.

"Ripe for a bike packing adventure, from mountains to the UK's most beautiful beaches the Hebridean Way has it all. Bonus - the wildlife is spectacular!", Emma, Head of Marketing.

Travel tips:

  1. Go in shoulder season to avoid the NC500 crowds, and the midges

  2. Eat at the Seafood Shack on the harbour

  3. Learn to enjoy the (single-track-road) journey, not just the destinations!

"Dartmoor is a treasure trove of trails, natural pools, climbing crags and endless greenery. Put the effort in and you're rewarded with a wild swimming spot to yourself all day long", David, Marketing Director.

"Thor's Cave in the Peak District, fantastic hike and incredible views, in a place that seems so unexpected to be in the UK", Aaron, Ecommerce Manager.

"The southern part of the river Dart is one of the most beautiful, wild and untouched bodies of water in the UK. The best stretches are inaccessible by foot, where you'll see no one else for kilometres. If you're happy to commit to a couple of hours of paddle boarding it's well worth the reward", David, Marketing Director.

"Legal wild camp at Crow Tor, under a massive granite outcropping. A short hike into Dartmoor via Wistman's Wood, one of Britain's last remaining ancient temperate rainforests", Mike, Sales Lead.

"The iconic white chalk cliffs meeting the sea are even more impressive in real life than in photos and on a sunny summer's day are genuinely hard to beat. It's an easy day trip from London Victoria, under two hours by train to Seaford or Eastbourne, and best explored on the South Downs Way trail on a clear morning before the crowds arrive", Rob, Head of Creative.
